Probably more than any other county in England, the landscape and history of Hertfordshire has been shaped by roads and other routes which have been used by travellers through the ages. Hertfordshire roads have made a major contribution to key events in British history and Hertfordshire has a unique place in the history of aviation and modern road travel. This tour will highlight some of these events and sites, including those which can be visited, that have made Hertfordshire especially important in the history of human travelling.
This tour has been produced by the staff of the Hertfordshire County Council Archaeology Section. If you would like further information about the tour or other aspects of the archaeology of Hertfordshire email stewart.bryant@hertscc.gov.uk
